The Walkmen - While I Shovel The Snow (on Bella Union). Right in the zone thanks to Maroon and his crew.
“Something in the Water” is a 13-minute documentary that explores why the Seattle area continues to originate so much great music. It focuses on KEXP and Sub Pop Records and includes performances by local bands “Pickwick,” “Shabazz Palaces,” “Macklemore and Ryan Lewis,” “The Total Experience Gospel Choir,” “The Tripwires” and “The Head and the Heart.” Directed by Ward Serrill.
My Brightest Diamond is the project of singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Shara Worden. All she needs here is a voice and a guitar to reduce her audience and yours truly to tears.

Gotta love McMorrow’s golden tonsils, the man’s got voice!
Got to admit I’d rather watch Helena Christensen roll around in the surf though :)
Loving the retro feel of Okkervil River’s video for their new single Your Past Life As a Blast.
Oddity or odd ditty oh but I likee

My ears have just met Jonas Alaska; a 23yr old singer-songwriter from Norway and his wonderful self-titled début album. Jonas’ Myspace page lists his influences as Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, Hank Williams, David Bowie and Neil Young. I hear a little of Irish troubadour Fionn Regan and a lot of John Lennon. Whatever the influences it’s clear this young man and his merry band of folkster’s know how to craft a song. I’ll be back for more listens that’s for sure!
